I remember in my childhood hanging around with people who were thieving bastards back then, one would distract the guy, one would get the phone then both or three of them would play hot potato with the phone while acting all shocked that the phone was gone. Just copying my edit as the thread has moved on. Its quite frankly an exploit and needs fixed. If the conversations auto advanced with "." when you didn't pick a selection then I would agree with you, however thats not how conversations in DOS2 work. This game just takes it a little further, I can imagine the character in question saying "Here this person wants to search me, look I have nothing to hide, see" Then they'd fence it and use the money to buy mephedrone. Like how you could pickpocket a spoon off some peasant in Oblivion (I think) and then watch them slowly starve to death because they have no spoon to eat food with and can't eat with their hands. It's things like this that make games fun. It's emergent gameplay, you aren't pausing the game, you are distracting your mark while moving the goods away. That isn't emergent gameplay thats simply an exploit. This is being caught by the person who pickpocketed you so now your in a conversation with them which pauses both characters for all intents and purposes, removing items from his inventory at your leisure (with no character skill or item needed) and then continuing the conversation afterwards. One could simply drop a teleporter pyramid somewhere, pickpocket and vanish into thin air. Your characters have magic pockets, try using a locked gate when the character you're in control of doesn't have the key.Īnyway there are so many creative ways around pickpocketing and not getting caught. You should be blocked from adding or removing items from a characters inventory while they are in conversation (with the sole exception being pickpocketing which would allow an ally character to pickpocket the items out of your pocket achieving the same effect with out the cheese) You put an item into your pocket then its magically removed, travels through space and time and ends up in your friends pocket who isn't even in the same zone as you? Sounds like slight of hand to me. I actually like how you can cheese it because its sort of how its done in real life as well.
